Church liaison
Who is my neighbour?

Church Liaison focuses on building and maintaining valuable links between the Charity and Churches in Brighton & Hove so that a more effective form of support could be given by church congregations to the many homeless people present within the communities in which these Churches are situated. Approaching Churches in the City in a personal and hands on way helps to raise awareness of the issues relating to the complex problem of homelessness in the City whilst helping to meet some of the needs of the Charity in its work to provide support for these young people.
An important Church link for the Clock Tower Sanctuary is its relationship with the Parish Church of St Nicholas in which the Charity is situated. Through developing closer contact with the Church, the Charity recruited its first Chaplain. Although this position is now vacant, links with St Nicholas have been maintained and the Charity continues to receive much value support from the Church. The Charity also has good links with St Michael’s Church & All Angels and enjoys the support of its incumbent Priest. Several presentations of the Charity’s work have been made to the congregation and the Parish Breakfast Project offers free cooked breakfasts to the homeless young people who access the Charity for support.
Churches in Central Hove, in particular, the Parish Church of All Saints, Hove, have also been very supportive with gifts of food, clothing, blankets and financial aid. The Charity has regularly received donations from St Cuthbert’s Housing Association in connection with the United Reform Church of Central Hove. The Drop-in Centre now has a full time Manager paid for in part by financial support from the Church Urban Fund.

Church liaison help
Can you help us please?
The church liaison work is both enjoyable and rewarding but existing relationships constantly need to be maintained which can be quite labour intensive.
Volunteers are always needed to assist, especially those with contacts in local churches.
Offers of help and support from Churches of all denominations are welcome.
If you think your Church can help the Clock Tower Sanctuary by offers of volunteers, harvest festival gifts, donations/gift aid or simply by raising awareness, please contact:
